I made this piece after visiting the Salvador Dali and Picasso museums in Spain. I really loved their unique block style of painting and the bright colors they utilize. I was playing with color combinations as well as trying to make a statement about perceived beauty of women in America: that they have to be thin and hairless in order to have a happy and social existence. I disagree with this. I also added my new experimentation of stitching yarn into the piece to add another dimension. I did a series of these paintings all similar in fighting beauty standards and inspired by Dali and Picasso, however this was my favorite.
